75 percent Indians
Washington: Most Indians are
waiting for the green card in America. The US Citizenship and Immigration
Services (USCIS) latest figures show that more than three-quarters of Indians
are in the forefront of the green card that offers permanent living in the US. About
3,95,025 foreigners are waiting for the green card in America by May of this
year.
More
than three thirds of these are 3,06,601 Indians waiting for the green card.
India is next to China's (67,031). In the rest of the countries it is less than
ten thousand people waiting for it. China is followed by L Salvador
(7,252), Guatemala (6,027), Honduras (5,402) and the Philippines (1,491). According to the current rules governing the US
government, green cards should not be issued by more than seven per cent in any
fiscal year. The Indians are suffering from this.
