That Indignity is 125 years old!
Pietermaritzburg:
Three days of special programs began when 125 years of Satyagraha movement
launched by Mahatma Gandhi after the escape from the train in South Africa
began. The film 'Making of Mahatma' was presented on Wednesday. While serving
as a lawyer in South Africa, Gandhi was forced to leave Pietermaritzburg after
refusing to vacate the seat allotted to the White House on June 7, 1893.
Under the influence of
this event, Gandhi created the theories of Satyagraha to bring peace to British
policies in India and to bring people together. In 1996, the 'Making of
Mahatma' directed by Shyam Benegal was jointly produced by Bharat and South African
governments.
The film was screened
after Gandhi decided to build a Tolstoy Farm in Phoenix, Johannesburg in Durban
to leave worldly affairs.
AB Musa, CEO of
Avalan Group, which presented the film, said that his ancestors are very
embarrassed to have an affair with Gandhi. For the next two days, there will be
a number of programs under the leadership of External Affairs Minister Sushma
Swaraj.
